Through fair access to legal advice and support, they advocate to resolve issues of injustice and disadvantage. Their service is independent.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DCLS began in 1991 when volunteer lawyers provided free legal advice sessions in Darwin and surrounds. Over time, the service expanded its geographical coverage and the range of matters on which it provided assistance, and is now host to specialist services including the Tenants\u2019 Advice Service and the Seniors and Disability Rights Service.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cotant.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/dclscontactdetails.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-44143 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cotant.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/dclscontactdetails.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"391\" height=\"811\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cotant.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/dclscontactdetails.jpg 391w, https:\/\/www.cotant.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/dclscontactdetails-145x300.jpg 145w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 391px) 100vw, 391px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0In 2000, DCLS was awarded the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission\u2019s prestigious National Human Rights Award for Community Service.<\/p>\n<p>Darwin Community Legal Service (DCLS) is one of 200 community legal centres (CLCs) around Australia. These centres are set up to provide legal services to disadvantaged people, deliver community legal education, and undertake law reform projects.
