THE 2006 - 2007 POLICY COUNCIL
COTA Policy Councils and their Secretariats identify, research and determine issues of COTA policy, develop policy and policy strategies, and influence Governments, media and the community through networking, representation and advocacy.
Policy Council Objectives
- Identify issues for COTA policy focus (Territory and national).
- Prioritise and research issues and proposed policy and program responses.
- Determine COTA policies based on input from members and other Territory seniors, research and dialogue, and in accordance with the Mission and Goals and agreed policy principles.
- Represent and advocate COTA policy, and provide leadership and expertise on ageing issues, to decision makers and centres of influence, and to the community generally.
- Determine main strategies for developing and advancing COTA policy agendas
- Exert influence on Governments, media and other decision makers in order to advance COTA policies and objectives.
The Policy Council includes all current Board members as well as:
- Ms Beryl Warne
- Ms Betty Mill, Association of Independent Retirees
Other relevant expertise is co-opted as required.
